Featured Pet: Summer

Summer is a one year old spayed female brown Chihuahua – Smooth Coated. At first she may seem a little shy, but give her time and it will be worth your wait. Her size makes her a great candidate for apartment living. Summer does enjoy the outdoors and taking leisure walks, but she needs to be an inside dog. Please plan a meet and greet with all family members, four-legged as well, to ensure Summer is the perfect companion for you. Summer can be found at the shelter by inquiring about ID#A037831.

Featured Pet: Morton

Morton is a mostly white Pit Bull Terrier and Labrador Retriever Mix. This guy is a sweetie, always giving kisses and showing affection. An active 2 year old, Morton is full of energy and maintains a playful quality so he needs a yard  and  a daily exercise schedule. Additional behavioral training will be a bonus for Morton. He has a beautiful coat that is marked with polka dots, which may be an indication of some Dalmatian DNA. He would be better in a home with older kids. If there are any other dogs in the household, please bring them to the shelter to meet Morton, ID#A038045.

Featured Pet: Bowie

Bowie is a big cuddly teddy bear. This 6 year old neutered male cat with beautiful gray and white coloring and stunning green eyes loves belly rubs.  He was rescued from a hoarding situation, but has adapted remarkably well to the changes in his life, so he should adjust quickly to a new home.  Laid back and undemanding, Bowie should be good with either children or seniors. Contact the shelter and inquire about ID#A037889 to meet Bowie.

Featured Pet: Remy

Remy is a neutered black and brown male Miniature Pinscher mix.  This sweet dog is still a playful pup although he is eight years old. He would make a great companion for an person who enjoys light activities and he qualifies for the Senior for Seniors program (a Burbank resident age 55 or older can adopt a senior pet for a reduced fee.)  Remy should be the only dog in the house and needs a yard for running and playing.  If there are any kids in the family, please be sure they have the chance to meet Remy and spend some time with him before finalizing an adoption.  Contact the shelter and inquire about  ID#A037645 to meet Remy, he’s ready to meet you.

Featured Pet: Prince

Prince is  a neutered white male Chihuahua – Smooth Coated mix.   Great things come in small packages and this little guy is no exception.  Prince should be an indoor dog and although small, he is not well suited to apartment living. Prince is a very active and playful six year old and will need a small yard he can run around in.  His previous owner reports that he is good with kids, so he should make a great family dog.  He came into the shelter with his brother Goofy, whom he loves very much. Prince and Goofy are available for adoption together as well as individually. To meet this prince, contact the shelter and inquire about ID#A024160.

March Volunteer of the Month

2011 March, Tiffany Victor
What can Tiffany Victor do? Everything! As a volunteer, Tiffany
spends hours working behalf of the VBAS. She has made ADOPT ME
bandanas for the dogs to wear for their close-ups on KTLA, selects the
PET OF THE WEEK for the Burbank Leader and posts certificates and
biographies on kennels and cages, helps John out at the front desk,
sits on the Disaster Preparedness Committee and is ready to foster
puppies at a moment’s notice.

Who can Tiffany Victor help? Everyone! She is the kind of gal that
isn’t deterred by a BIG dog. Tiffany has a special way with the
bigger doggies, and is excellent at handling, exercising, socializing
and acting as a “personal assistant” to large pups when they go for
their KTLA spots. Tiffany is also good with introverts. She can
bring a scared or shy dog out of his or her shell. She finds a way
into the heart of every dog she meets, but in Tiffany’s case—not just
dogs fall for her, people do, too! If you are to ask anyone about
Tiffany, you are answered with a huge smile and glowing sentiments.

Where can you find Tiffany Victor? Check the take-out line! Tiffany’s
natural caretaking ability doesn’t just affect the heart; it has an
effect on stomachs as well! It has been said that Marissa and
Jeanette might go hungry some busy days if Tiffany wasn’t always
willing to bring them lunch.

Why is Tiffany Victor the Volunteer of the Month? She’s not only an
amazing volunteer; Tiffany’s a unique friend to dogs and people alike.
We honor Tiffany because of her extraordinary ability and
willingness to give all in any way that she can to everyone–creatures
great or small, confident or frightful, helpless or hungry.

Most of all, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank Tiffany for
making it so we never have to answer the question: How would we
manage without her?
