Ginger on the Mend!

Poor little Ginger arrived at the shelter after having a really bad day. She was hit by a car which broke her pelvis and tore a ligament in her knee. Sometimes rest can heal injuries in small dogs, but in this case the damage was too great. This sweet little 8 year old Chihuahua needed major surgery.

Thanks to our generous donors, and support (in part) by a grant from the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, Ginger was able to see an orthopedic specialist and have the surgery she needed! Her pelvis was pinned back together, her knee ligament was reconstructed, and now she’s resting comfortably and recuperating in her foster home.

The VBAS would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Laurent Guidot, ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, and all of our generous donors who made this miracle possible. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you so much for giving Ginger a second chance!
