The 12 Days of VBAS

On the 1st day of Christmas the VBAS medical program gave to Rigby ONE knee surgery!

Little one year old Rigby arrived at the shelter with a badly damaged knee. Because of donors like you, Rigby was able to see a specialist to get the surgery she needed to repair her knee. She’s back on her feet and can walk normally now!

Help the next animal at the Shelter that needs to go to the hospital for a life changing surgery. Donate here.

On the 2nd day of Christmas the VBAS honored TWO cats, Prince & Precious, by sponsoring a 50% adoption fee reduction for all bonded pairs.

Prince and Precious were able to be adopted together due to the VBAS funding its reduced fee adoption program. In addition to bonded pairs, adoption fees for seniors (7+ years old) and long term residents (5+ months) are 50% off as well!

Help us continue this program and honor a special love like Prince and Precious and many others. Donate here.

On the 3rd day of Christmas the VBAS Happy Tails Program took our dogs for a THREE mile hike!

An amazing idea for a shelter dog – to hike in a park or on a mountain trail. Twice each month, our Happy Tails Program takes shelter dogs on Volunteer led hikes in Stough Canyon and local parks.

Help a shelter dog get out and take a hike. Donate here.

On the 4th day of Christmas the VBAS Kitten Charm School gave each ‘student’ FOUR weeks of classes.

The socialization window for scared and nervous kittens is small, so we started Kitten Charm School to teach these small but fierce kittens that humans are ok! Kitten Charm School provides foster parents with the training, resources and support to work with these scardey-kittens and turn them into loving balls of fluff. More than 50 kittens went to Charm School in 2021 and all of them graduated and went to loving homes.

Help send a kitten to Charm School. Donate here.

On the 5th day of Christmas, the VBAS provided FIVE lab tests per week.

Sweet senior Barbara was not feeling well when she first got to the shelter. Lab tests and bloodwork done by our medical program discovered she had a kidney condition that needed attention. A plan was made and soon Barbara was feeling much better! She made a full recovery and was adopted to her forever home.

Help us provide labs and bloodwork for all the animals that need it! Donate here.

On the 6th day of Christmas, The VBAS bought over SIX hundred pounds of food for our kittens.

The 200+ kittens in our Kitten Foster Program ate over 600 pounds of kitten food this year!

Help put food in the mouth of a hungry kitten! Donate here.

On the 7th day of Christmas, our VBAS foster families provided SEVEN days a week of at home care.

Being a foster parent is a 24/7 job. Whether it be tiny puppies and kittens, a senior dog, or an adult cat needing extra TLC, our foster families gave them all 7 days a week of love and care and it made all the difference!

Help us put more animals in to foster homes. Donate here.

On the 8th day of Christmas, the VBAS placed EIGHT barn cats into safe homes during the months of July and August.

Our Barn Cat Program works all year long to secure barns, stables or businesses for outdoor, unsocialized cats who could never be adopted as a house pet. 31 barn cats were placed in working homes in 2021

Help a cat who needs special placement find a home. Donate here.

On the 9th day of Christmas the VBAS gave to our Kitten Foster Program NINE thousand pounds of litter!

Rosie, Wally and Archie are just as shocked! They and their friends in the Kitten Foster Program (Over 230 kittens fostered this year!) go through tons of litter every year. Literally!

Help keep the litter pans stocked and help us save more kittens. Donate here.

On the 10th day of Christmas, the VBAS gave to injured or ill animals TEN X-rays every week.

Our Digital X Ray machine continues to be an absolute game changer for our medical program! Every animal needing x-rays gets them!

Help keep our X-ray running and providing life saving diagnosis to more cats and dogs. Donate here.

On the 11th day of Christmas ELEVEN foster families fostered 18 dogs and puppies!

11 families in our Puppy Foster Program and Adult Dog Foster Program fostered 18 puppies and dogs in 2021.

Help give a foster dog a second chance and give a puppy the right start in life. Donate here.

On the 12th day of Christmas the VBAS gave TWELVE months of saving the lives of curious cats, friendly dogs, snuggly bunnies and other furry and feathered creatures.
